Once a year, the German Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognizes excellence in vocational training which follows the principles of the German dual education model. Award application is open to individual companies, consortia, or organizations (and educational institutions) that have implemented a German-style dual educational program in the Philippines.

1st Vocational Training Award Gala Night (Marriott Hotel)

Motivation

Winner in the Category: Punlaan School

Punlaan School has been implementing the Dual Training Education since 1993The program consists of 60% OJT and work skills laboratory hours and 40% work attitude, learning skills and general culture. As of now, the program is on its 24th batch with over 1000 graduates. Punlaan also guarantees gainful employment of every graduate. For the past 22 years, Punlaan’s employment rate is at 100% and continues to fulfill the dreams of every graduate and her family.


Within this category any efforts are appreciated that enhance the recognition of vocational training as a valuable and important form of education. Those efforts effectively demonstrate the long-term high benefits of this educational system for learners, companies and the state.

Winner in the Category: National College of Science and Technology

The Learn, Earn and Achieve Program (LEAP) that makes use of the Dual Training System as a training platform gave birth to the programs of Certificate in Manufacturing Technology, Diploma in Production Technology and Certificate in Telecommunications and Broadband Technology. From a humble beginning of 10 DTS trainees, now it has served more than 24,000 trainees and has over 40 industry partners.  Other partnership of NCST is

also forged with the National Government Line Agencies, which includes the Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Agriculture, DSWD, Department of Education, DepEd-ALS MIMAROPA, with the Religious Organization such as Cavite Presbytery, Church of God World Mission Philippines, Missionaries of Mary Mother of the Poor, JCKL Church International and with the legitimate Non-Government Organizations both domestic and foreign, which includes International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), World Vision Philippines, Gawad Kalinga, Philippine Red Cross, Arnold Janssen Catholic Mission Foundation, Kabataan Iwas Droga Movement (KID), Samahan ng Kababaihan ng Culion , Palawan among others to support the implementation of the NCST IIRT LEAP (DTS) Program.                  


This award applies to projects in which different active vocational training bodies work together exemplarily to improve the quality and efficiency of the education and training.

Winners in the Category: CITE and Porsche

CITE

CITE’s flagship program which offers a three-year post-secondary course which, since its implementation has produced more than 2000 well-trained, middle-level manpower students for industry and entrepreneurial work.  CITE, through innovations such as dynamic learning program, personal formation program, ISO 9001:2008 and Competence Based curriculum ensures that they are enhancing the quality of learning of the students and that each student, through his/her own competency and learning style can achieve superior scholastic performance.

Porsche

Porsche has begun an even better Porsche Training and Recruitment Center with the introduction of competency-oriented curriculum with practical work in selected training facilities will be introduced on the basis of the existing curriculum and will be adapted to the needs of latest and future technologies in form of general and brand-specific elements. Culture, language and advanced technology skill modules will also be offered. Each year 165 Filipinos enter PTRCA and get the chance to start their vocational education. The link between the manufacturers´ requirements and needs as well as the vocational education is established properly. Especially, the link between the resulting curriculum and teacher qualification is guaranteed. Additionally, the students get support from the training officers in the dealership organizations.

A comprehensive monitoring system and several indicators enable a useful evaluation of the program. Complementarily, a monitoring system is set up with the objective to give a regular feedback to the students that helps to create an individual learning path.


This category aims to award initiatives and projects that introduce new methods, concepts and instruments in the vocational training system thereby contributing to better training results and learning outcomes.

 CS Garment, Inc.

For 25 years, CS Garment, Inc. has been constantly providing its clients with professional and quality shirts and line services. The company can share valuable experiences when it comes to training programs since it has already been engaged in adopting the German Dual Training System (DTS) for ten years. The program aims at developing the skills and competencies of the youth through theoretical and practical training. CS Garment makes a huge effort in implementing this program because it produces well-qualified and productive workers and it is a strategy to help curb unemployment in the area.

 

Dualtech Training Center Foundation, Inc.

Dualtech has started using elements of Dual System since the 1980s. Their training plan is jointly developed with partner companies. This course runs for 24 months. They first learn the basics of the chosen technology and the next phase allows the students to spend 5 days a week working in one of their 120 partner companies and one day in Dualtech for continuing personal development. 

 

 

 

 

Evaluation

A jury of experts will review all entries submitted and select the winner in the three categories. The award ceremony will be held as part of an official event. Deadline of entries will be on October 31, 2015.

Jury Composition

The Jury is composed of:

 

  • Representatives of two companies in the Philippines
  • A representative of a vocational training establishment in the Philippines
  • A representative of a governmental institution responsible for Vocational Education Training
  • A representative of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • A representative of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Eligibility Requirements

Individual companies, consortia, or organizations (and educational institutions) that have implemented a German-style dual education program in the Philippines.

Award winners will receive

● Recognition at a Gala Dinner on November 26, 2015 before executives and decision makers of the German Philippine business community

● A beautifully customized crystal award statue

● Announcement in the German Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Annual Review Magazine
