Help me trade: WTO launches help desk for SMEs

Upon request of the German Chamber Network (DIHK), the World Trade Organization (WTO) together with the International Trade Center (ITC) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) launched a help desk to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing information on international trade rules.

The one-stop shop, which is free of charge, is still in the beta phase and is meant to especially help SMEs  get an overview of the many trade rules.

Companies that operate internationally and search for potential export markets are offered compact and relevant information about the following topics: duties and taxes, health and security standards, compliance processes, details about import and export procedures such as pre-transport formalities, current trade streams, and free trade agreements.

Further information for purchasers and vendors, as well as trade fair dates and locations, will be added later on. Eventually, companies will be able to request customized information about relevant markets and products in real time via an e-mail-system. The Trade Helpdesk is expected to be fully functional by 2020.
