The first batch of 56 students trained under the Porsche Aftersales Vocational Education (PAVE) curriculum for Automotive Service Mechatronics recently reaped the fruits of their hard work. The 2-week, comprehensive examination was organized, supervised and quality-assured by AHK Philippinen.

The partnership between AHK Philippinen and Porsche is the first engagement of the chamber to certify a vocational training program modelled after the German system. The PAVE program, developed by Porsche, is implemented by the Porsche Training and Recruitment Center Asia (PTRC-A) in cooperation with the Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) and the Philippine car importer and dealer PGA Cars Inc. The 2-year curriculum for Automotive Service Mechatronics was developed to satisfy a growing demand for high-standard after-sales services in Asia and the Middle East.

The young Filipino workforce, well educated, English-speaking and adaptable to working abroad, is attractive to various companies around the world. While developed by Porsche, the PAVE Program is open to other car brands seeking to hire well trained car mechanics from the Philippines. Skilled labor is, and always will, be the backbone of a strong ASEAN Economic Community.
