TÜV Rheinland holds series of RSO trainings

Makati, Philippines—Thirteen (13) Registered Radiologic Technologist completed the 3-day Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) training course, equivalent to 24 training hours last April 25-27,2017 held at TÜV Rheinland Philippines Inc. Makati Office.

Facilitated by Mr. Romeo Ang Jr. RRT, Competence Center Administrator of TÜV Rheinland Philippines Life Care Services, a workshop-style approach training was conducted where the participants have the opportunity to take part in the discussion together with other participants; exchange and present work experiences; and complete activities in pairs and small groups.

Among the topics discussed were 1) radiation concepts, quantities, and units; 2) radiobiological effects 3) principles and philosophy of radiation protection; 4) international radiation safety standards (ibss) 5) general radiation protection features for radiologic equipment 6) radiation protection preparedness 7) personal monitoring 8)  optimization of diagnostic imaging procedures 9) radiographic image quality 10) formulating radiographic technique chart 11) quality management in medical radiography;12) administrative order (AO) 35.

Through this Radiation Safety Training courses, Radiologic Technologist will become efficient and effective in dealing with new methods and techniques in minimizing the risk of ionizing radiation. Participants will be designated later on by the owners of the x-ray facility to supervise radiation safety within the facility.
