Joint GPCCI VTC-PAC Forum: “Building the Industry 4.0 Ecosystem in the Philippines"

The GPCCI Vocational and Training Committee (VTC) and Policy and Advocacy Committee (PAC) held the event "Ushering Industry 4.0 in the Philippine Industrial Landscape" last 30 April 2024, tackling the foundation of the industrial ecosystem for industries and businesses, research and development, and labor and employment as part of the Philippine's transition to the 4th Industrial Revolution. 

Ms. Grace Baldoza, the Division Chief of DOLE-BLE, provided an insightful discussion on the future of the labor sector featured in the Philippine Labor and Development Plan 2023-2028. She also discussed the Philippine Labor and Employment Plan (PLEP), aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and Ambisyon Natin 2040 which prioritizes maximization of opportunities, monitoring of labor market governance, and strengthening social protection. Furthermore, highlighting the collaboration in skills development, AI development, business viability and resilience, and focusing on vulnerable groups. 

Dr. Rafaelita Aldaba, Undersecretary of the DTI Competitiveness and Innovation Group discussed the strategies in maximizing the emerging opportunities of Industry 4.0 through the Promoting Research and Innovation to Strengthen Transformation of Industries and Enterprises (PRISTINE) Project which aims to set the innovation ecosystem for industries through research and development, and capacity building. She also emphasized the Philippine Industry 4.0 Transformation Roadmap along with the National AI Strategy Roadmap which aims to make the Philippines an AI Research and Development Center of Excellence through the establishment of key infrastructures such as an innovation gateway, research centers, and educational institutions.
