GPCCI Brings Regional Green Investment Dialogue 2026 to Cebu

On 16 July 2026, the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI), in partnership with the German Embassy Manila, successfully held the Regional Green Investment Dialogue (RGID) 2026 in Cebu, convening representatives from government, industry, academia, and the business community to discuss sustainable investment opportunities and the region's role in the country's green transition.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Brenda Baylon, Senior Vice President of GPCCI, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between government and industry to accelerate investments that support sustainable economic growth, energy security, and climate resilience. She highlighted Cebu's potential to contribute to the country's green transition through renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, and innovation-driven development. Meanwhile, H.E. Andreas Pfaffernoschke, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Philippines, underscored the importance of engaging regional stakeholders in advancing the country's sustainability agenda and reaffirmed Germany's commitment to supporting the Philippines through investment, technology, and knowledge exchange.  

 

The program featured a regional investment outlook from Ms. Floreza Alpuerto, Chief Investments Specialist of the Board of Investments (BOI) Cebu Extension Office, who highlighted the Visayas' investment advantages and opportunities across renewable energy, energy storage, smart grid technologies, sustainable manufacturing, and blue economy sectors. She also discussed investment facilitation initiatives, including the Strategic Investment Priority Plan and the Green Lane program. Dir. Renante Sevilla, Regional Director of the Department of Energy Visayas Field Office, followed with an update on the Visayas energy landscape, emphasizing the importance of renewable energy development and energy infrastructure in supporting the region's continued growth and competitiveness.  

 

The event also featured an Industry Spotlight and Moderated Executive Dialogue, providing participants with insights on sustainable technologies and a platform to exchange perspectives on green growth opportunities. In his closing remarks, Regan Rex King, President of Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), highlighted Cebu's position as a key economic center in the Visayas and emphasized the growing momentum for green investment in the region.  

 

The event concluded with a networking reception, officially opened by Dr. Christian Scheld, President of GPCCI, who encouraged participants to continue building partnerships and transforming dialogue into concrete collaboration.
