“The Asia-Pacific region is a global powerhouse for cutting-edge technologies and innovation, and it offers manifold market opportunities for companies across industries. To mutually utilize this potential and to jointly address global challenges, constant dialogue is key,” says Roland Busch, chairman of the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business.
On the 24th to the 26th of October, business leaders, policymakers, and Think Tanks in Asia Pacific congregated at the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK: Asien-Pazifik Konferenz) in New Delhi, India. At the event, Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck discussed key points on economic issues. It was a productive exchange, with ASEAN’s evolving global role prominently highlighted by both the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Economic Minister Habeck. The EU-PH free trade agreement was also highlighted during the event.
The 18th APK coincided with the timing of the Indian-German Government Consultations, where the event welcomed Indian Prime Minister Modi, and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz. Both heads of government delivered a keynote on the first morning of the conference.
The 2-day event was attended by over 800 participants from across Asia-Pacific and Germany. Christopher Zimmer, Executive Director of the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was also in attendance, promoting trade and economic relations between Germany and the Philippines.
There, Mr. Zimmer participated in a variety of engagements, such as a business lunch with representatives from Indonesia and Vietnam, where they exchanged information on recent developments in the ASEAN, and the impact of global changes on these countries, as well as business opportunities for German companies.
The 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business underscored the importance of collaboration and innovation among a diverse array of stakeholders. By bringing together influential leaders and industry experts, the event highlighted the dynamic opportunities within the Asia-Pacific region while addressing pressing global challenges. As the world navigates economic uncertainties and evolving geopolitical landscapes, the commitment to open communication and strategic partnerships remains essential.
The APK is jointly organized by the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK) in Asia-Pacific.
