GPCCI: Government Affairs Director

Objective of the Position

This newly created position advocates GPCCI’s stand on economic issues and supports companies’ interest. This position directly reports to the Executive Director.

Principal Accountabilities

>Management of area of responsibility

  • Regular discussion and communication of his/her KPIs
  • Preparation and implementation of budget in the area of responsibility

Main Operational Tasks

>Policy Advise

  • Design and implement a strategy to successfully position GPCCI in the national, regional and local political dialogue
  • Organize the GPCCI’s internal positioning by means of committee meetings, position papers, others
  • Monitor legislative procedures relevant for GPCCI’s member companies
  • Align with potential partners, such as national business associations, embassies, bilateral chambers
  • Position GPCCI in the media, such as newspaper, social media and television
  • Support companies in doing business using the established stakeholder network
  • Develop a business plan on how the policy advise section can generate revenues for GPCCI
  • Financial accountability on projects

>Business Development

  • Develop business opportunities for GPCCI around advocating activities.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

>Education

  • Minimum is a Bachelor’s Degree on political science, economics, law or related disciplines 

>Experience

  • More than 5 years of experience in government relations coupled with a strong understanding of government processes and PR relations 

>Key Competencies

  • Effective communication, superior verbal and written capabilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders and media
  • Profound understanding of the working and dynamics of a membership association
  • Self-confident demeanor and mature social skills
  • A sense of urgency and passion
