German Technology and Solutions showcased at the Waste Management & Recycling Conference hosted by GPCCI

MANILA, Philippines – The German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) in cooperation with the Market Access Program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action recently hosted the 2022 German-Philippine Recycling and Waste Management Conference on September 27, 2022, at the Dusit Thani Manila. 

The week-long business mission commenced with a country briefing at the German Ambassador’s residence and was hosted by Her Excellency, German Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel. It was followed by a meeting with an ADB specialist on project opportunities at the Asian Development Bank. The group also met with EU Delegation and GIZ to discuss potential cooperation in the Philippines.

Various meetings with key stakeholders in the industry and site visits to the Sanitary Landfill Operations of Phil Ecology Systems Corporation and Metro Clark Waste Management facilities helped the delegates to understand the current situation and conditions on a firsthand basis.  

During the conference, Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Material Sustainability Founding President Commissioner, Crispiano Lao expressed that the key to attaining the goals of the “Zero Waste to nature program” is by improving and addressing the need for effective and sustainable recycling and waste management infrastructure. The Zero Waste to Nature Program is a declaration of commitment by global and local manufacturers, together with plastic producers, recyclers, and other members of the waste value chain, to initiate and support efforts to reduce and collect waste, in line with the 2025 sustainable packaging commitments of some global brands while adhering to science and local economics.

Furthermore, the Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines’ President Dr. Marlon De Luna Era encouraged stakeholders to talk and cooperate on how we can work in attaining the sector’s targets.”

The business mission aims to support German Companies in entering the Philippine Market to look for potential partners and collaboration by showcasing advanced German Technology and Solutions. It was participated by 5 German companies, namely: 2G Energy AG, BOMAG GmbH, CUTMETALL plus Carbide Germany GmbH, EUWELLE Environmental Technology GmbH, Vecoplan AG and was attended by around 100 stakeholders in the field of recycling and waste management.
