GPCCI Celebrates Mabuhay Germany™ 2023

MANILA, Philippines – The German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (GPCCI) was delighted to host its premier event, Mabuhay Germany, which took place from November 16 to November 18, 2023, at Hall A of the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

The event began with an Opening Ceremony on the morning of November 16. This ceremony was marked by a series of welcoming speeches from distinguished figures. Mr. Stefan Schmitz, President of GPCCI, inaugurated the event, warmly inviting attendees to participate in its activities and explore the exhibitions of Mabuhay Germany.

His Excellency Dr. Andreas Pfaffernoschke, the German Ambassador to the Philippines, followed with his remarks. He highlighted the enduring trade and cultural relationship between Germany and the Philippines, noting the forthcoming 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024. Ambassador Pfaffernoschke expressed his excitement for future collaborations in various sectors, including renewable energy, transportation, and technical-vocational training.

Representing the Philippine Government, Usec. Maria Blanca Kim Bernardo-Lokin from the emphasized the Philippines' eagerness to become Germany's strategic partner in multiple development projects and its commitment to the global shift towards clean and renewable energy.

The opening ceremony concluded with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and a tour of the exhibition booths at Hall A, World Trade Center Metro Manila, showcasing the dynamic potential of German- Philippine partnerships.

Event Background

Mabuhay Germany featured a three-day fair where business leaders, industry experts, and key government officials from the Philippines and Germany, converge to strengthen bilateral trade and cultural relations. The event aimed to strengthen the relationship between the private and public sector; to demonstrate resilience and a forward-focused vision. This year, Mabuhay Germany ™ highlighted the importance of sustainability in trade. It also provided updates on the combined effort of the Philippines and Germany in driving innovation and future technologies that support sustainable development.
