Moving forward to move back home

07/12/2020

The Future Movers (FM) Programme, which was officially launched in February 2020, aims to train Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) of Marawi in construction-related skills to find employment and help re-build their home, Marawi City. The city was vastly destroyed during the 5-months rebel siege in 2017.

Drawing from its experiences in German Dual Education and Training, industry-engagement, and the lessons learned from the recently concluded K to 12 PLUS Project, GPCCI is taking the lead to establish the Industry Placement Committee (IPC). “The IPC will serve as a consultative body that supports industry-required skills training for the construction sector,” says Angelita Bonsilao, GPCCI’s Industry Engagement Officer for the FM Programme.

The IPC’s recommendations will cover curriculum enhancement (including soft-skills), skills training delivery (including on-the-job training) and graduates’ transition into the labor market.

The first IPC meeting, organized and virtually conducted by GPCCI on December 15, will bring together key partners from the industry, the educational sector, and civil society.

GPCCI is one of 4 consortium partners in this multi-stakeholder project, which is funded by the European Union through the VET Toolbox.
